The Cody Cubs were back in action Sunday as they played host to the Sheridan Jets for an afternoon showdown.

The bats came alive for Cody to the tune of 37 runs over the 2 games.

The Cubs won game 1 by a final score of 23-4 and took game 2, 14-4.

Wyatt Carlson would blast the first grand salami of the season for Cody, his first grand slam of his career in the first game.

Miles Bailey picked up the win in this one, his first of the season, coming on in relief. Bailey tossed 1.2 innings, gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, and struck out 1.

It’s hard to believe bu the Cubs trailed in this one, 2-0 after 2-innings of play.

The bats broke out in a big way after that, scoring 8-runs in the 3rd inning and piling on 15 in the 4th.

I’ve covered quite a few Cody Cubs teams over the years but this is the first time I think I’ve seen the Cubs bat through the order 3-times in an inning. That happened in the 4th.

The Cubs had 18 hits: Jace Jarrett, Trey Schroeder, Trey Thomasson and Carlson each had 3-hits a-pic.

Carlson’s Grand Slam highlighted that 15-run 4th.

Every Cub that played in the 1st game had either multiple hits, multiple runs scored or multiple RBI’s.

In game 2, Easton Hartley would take to the hill for his 2nd start of his Legion A career and picked up his 2nd career win. Hartley would go 4 innings, gave up 2 hits, 3 runs (1 earned) and struck out 2.

Hartley would retire the order in the first 3 innings.

Jackson Schroeder would connect on his 2nd Home Run of the season, a 2-run homer, over the right field fence in game 2.

The Cubs jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in this one.

After Sheridan scored 3 in the 4th Cody answered with a 4-run 4th and plated 4 in the bottom of the 6th to close out this one.

Thomasson collected 3 more hits in this one to lead the way.

Following all the action the Cubs are now 19-15 on the season, have won 15 of their last 20 and are riding a 4-game win streak.

Up Next: The Cubs will play host to Arapahoe, Colorado on Wednesday for a single 9-inning game with first pitch at 5pm.
