Cody Cubs Bounce Back to Sweep Laramie on Thursday

The Cody Cubs were back in action Thursday as they played host to the Laramie Rangers for an afternoon matinee of Legion Baseball action.

The Cubs would show great resilience as they bounced back to earn themselves a sweep over the “AA” ranked Rangers. Cody won game 1 by a final of 7-3 and Trey Schroeder walked it off in game 2 as the Cubs got the 17-7 win in 6.

Starting off with a look at game 2 where Trey Schroeder provided the fireworks knocking in the game winning hit and in cased you missed it, here is the call.

Wyatt Carlson would take to the hill for his 4th start of the season and picked up the win, his 2nd of the season.. Carlson tossed 4.1 innings, gave up 4 hits, 5 runs (none earned), walked 4 and struck out 1.

While Trey Schroeder had the game winning hit, Dominic Phillips would lead the way at the plate going 3-4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored. Jace Jarrett, Ben Reinker and Eli Johnston each had a pair of hits in this one. Jarrett had 4 RBI’s.

The Cubs got up early in this one, leading 7-0 after 1 inning of play while totaling 13 hits in the game.

In game 1 of the day, Ben Reinker would take to the hill and followed up last weeks career day with another gem. Reinker picked up his 3rd win of the season as he went 5 innings, gave up 7 hits, 3 runs, walked 4 and struck out 8. Reinker has 17 strike outs over his last 2 outings.

The Cubs got on the board early in this one as they scored the games first 3 runs and took a 3-0 lead after 1 inning of play.

After Laramie scored 1 in the 3rd, Cody answered with a 4-run 3rd and held on for the 4-run win.

Carlson collected a pair of hits in this one, to lead the way, scored a run and had an RBI.

Following all the action the Cubs are now 17-15 on the season, 4-2 in conference play and have won 13 of their last 18 games.

Up Next: The Cubs are back in action, Sunday, as they welcome the Sheridan Jets to town for what could be a State Tournament preview. It’s a twin bill with first pitch scheduled for 1pm.
