The Cody Cubs were back in action, Friday, as they played host to their Park County Rivals, the Powell Pioneers.
Friday night was also senior night for the Cubs.
The Powell Pioneers would come away with the sweep, on the evening, winning game 1 by a final of 6-0 and took game 2, 16-11.
Brock Johnson would take to the hill for Powell in game 1 and no hit the Cubs, tossing 13 strik-outs and only allowing 3 base runners.
Game 2 was all about the offense.
Both teams would go back-and-forth all game long with Powell ultimately coming out on top.
Powell took an early 3-1 lead before the Cubs answered right back with a 5-run 2nd before Dominic Phillips connected on a Hone Run, his 6th of the season, which gave Cody a 6-3 after 2.
The 3rd inning saw Powell score 5 in the top half only to see Cody respond once again. The Cubs plated 4 in the bottom of the 3rd, highlighted by a Jace Jarrett Home Run.
However, when it was all said and done Cody just ran out of steam.
The Pioneers outscored the Cubs 8-1 over the final 3 innings.
Noteworthy Stats: Dominic Phillips Home Run was a Grand Slam, the second Grand Slam by the Cubs this season and the first Home Run hit by Phillips in a about a month breaking a slump.
Jarrett’s Home Run was his first of his Legion “A” career and was a 2-run blast.
