The Cody Cubs played host to a trio of teams over the weekend for the Cody Lions Wood Bat Tournament.

The Cubs would go undefeated over the weekend winning all three games they played in.

On Friday, the Cubs opened the weekend against one of the World Baseball Showcase clubs and came away with the 12-2 win.

Easton Hartley took to the hill for his 3rd start of the season and picked up his 3rd win of the summer. He went 5 innings, gave up 2 hits, 2 runs, both earned, walked 2 and struck out 2.

Offensively the Cubs were dominant. Dominic Phillips led the way going 3-3 with 3 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.

The Cubs scored 2 or more runs in each inning, highlighted by a 4-run 3rd.

In the nightcap on Friday, Jack Schroeder powered the Cubs to an 8-2 victory over the Arapahoe Warriors out of Colorado.

Schroeder went 4-4 on the evening, launching his 3rd Home Run of the Season, had 4 RBI’s and scored 2 runs.

Ben Reinker tossed another gem of an outing, going 6 innings and giving up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 5. Reinker earned his 5th win of the season.

Jace Jarrett, Trey Schroeder and Trey Thomasson all picked up a pair of hits.

The Cubs did have a couple of games called off this weekend due to the weather but closed out the Tourney on Sunday, in style, knocking off the other World team with an 11-0 shutout.

Trey Schroeder was flawless on the hill pitching 4 innings of 2 hit ball while striking out 8. Schroeder picked up his 6th win of the season, which leads the team.

The Cubs, again, would score in every inning as Ben Reinker picked up a pair of hits, collected a pair of RBI and scored once.

The Cubs plated 7-runs in the 3rd inning to seal the victory.

Following all the weekend’s action the Cubs are now 22-15 on the season and are riding a 7-game win streak.

Up Next: Cody will hit the road for a Wednesday afternoon double header against the Casper Drillers, in a State Championship re-match.

On Thursday, the Cubs are back home, playing host to the Billings Upper Deck Expos, for a twin bill beginning at 4pm.
