Cody Cubs to Host Cody Tournament All Weekend
Written by Cole Havens on July 8, 2022
There’s just one week left in the Wyoming American Legion Baseball regular season. 1 week, that is all. The Cody Cubs recently dispatched their conference rival, the Lovell Mustangs, to begin the week and improved to 25-16 overall, 6-0 in league play. Now the Cubs return home for the rest of the regular season. There’s no place like Milward L. Simpson Stadium for some baseball and this weekend there’ll be plenty of it. The Cubs will be hosting the Cody Tournament all weekend long as they welcome Sheridan as well as two teams from Montana, Miles City and Gallatin Valley.
Let’s take a quick look at the teams, Cody is welcoming into town.
Note: All the records that are being listed (for Cody’s opponents) are from the most updated standings on Monday.
Starting with a look at Sheridan. The Troopers are one of the top teams in all of Wyoming. At the start of the week, Sheridna was 4th in the “AA” standings with a 30-9 overall record, 6-4 in conference play. Sheridan has beat the Cubs 4 times this year.
Miles City Montana:
The Mavericks currently lead the East “A” Standings in the Treasure State with a 26-11 overall record, 12-2 in conference play.
And Gallatin Valley.
The Cubs are no strangers to he Outlaws. These two teams have played multiple times over the last few seasons. This year, Cody has split their two meetings with Gallatin. Cody lost 8-5 early this season in Jackson but did beat the Outlaws up in Three Forks, last month, by a final of 9-5. Gallatin Valley entered the week as one of the top teams in Montana as well, with a 27-19 overall record, 6-4 in conference play.
The Cubs get the Cody Tournament underway Friday afternoon vs. Sheridan at 2pm.
Cody will play host to Miles City, Friday night, at 7pm.
On Saturday, Cody will once again play host to Miles City with first pitch scheduled for 6pm.
The Cubs close out the tourney, on Sunday, vs. Gallatin Valley at 1 in the afternoon.
All of Cody’s games can be heard live on KODI.
