Cody Democrat Running for Congress

Written by on May 16, 2018

A former Northwest College history instructor has become the second Democrat to enter the race for Wyoming’s lone U.S. House seat.
Mark Harvey of Cody says he’s running for the congressional seat now held by Republican Liz Cheney mainly because he wants citizens to have affordable health care. He also told the Casper Star-Tribune that he supports gun rights with some restrictions.
Harvey joins Laramie attorney Travis Helm as the two announced Democrats in the race. Cheney is serving her first term in the House.
The Star-Tribune reports that Harvey served as a surveying technician and inspector for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration for 17 years before retiring in 2017. He previously worked as a history instructor at Northwest College in Powell, and holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in American studies from the University of Wyoming.
