The Cody Police Department released more information on the incident in front of Cody High School, where a student was struck by a pick-up truck and taken to Cody Regional Health.

On Monday, April 17, at approximately 12:07 P. M., Cody Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of 10th Street and Beck Avenue to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Fortunately, a Cody Police Officer was at the Park County Court House and responded within a minute of the 911 call.

When the officer arrived on the scene, they observed a person on the ground in the eastbound lane of Beck Avenue in front of a pick-up truck in the same lane. The person was conscious and speaking with witnesses who stopped to help.

An ambulance responded to the scene, and the victim was transported to the Cody Regional Health Center Emergency Room with unknown injuries. As of Monday afternoon, their status is unknown.

Shortly after, the Wyoming Highway Patrol arrived to assist in the investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicated the driver of the truck – also a Cody High School student – was making a left turn from 10th Street into the eastbound lane of Beck Avenue. The truck collided with the pedestrian, who was walking in the crosswalk on the east side of the intersection.

Both the driver and victim were identified as Cody High School students on their lunch break.

This case is still under investigation. No further information is available at this time.

Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact Cody Police Officer Thomas Wilshusen at (307) 527-8700.
