A Cody man was killed in a vehicle crash Monday near Greybull.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol says that the fatal crash happened on Highway 14 outside of Greybull, just before 3:30 p.m. on January 22nd. 28 year old Simon Augedahl was killed when he rear ended a semi truck that had just entered the highway.
According to the news release, the driver of the semi had pulled into a closed business to make a U-turn, but because of snow in the parking lot, he couldn’t pull his vehicle all the way through, so he backed the semi onto Highway 14, while his passenger flagged traffic. Once they backed out of the parking lot and the passenger returned to the truck, they began to head west – that’s when a pickup driven by Augedahl rear ended the semi.
The Highway Patrol says that Augedahl was not wearing a seatbelt, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Driver inattention is being cited as the cause for the crash. No criminal charges are pending in the case.
This is the second highway fatality in Wyoming this year.
