Cody Principal Receives National Award

Written by on January 17, 2018

A Cody elementary school principal has been given a prestigious national award.

At a surprise assembly yesterday, Livingston Elementary School principal Mike Wood was greeted with cheers and songs from the students, staff and other educators as the banner was unveiled, naming him as this year’s Wyoming’s National Distinguished Principal.

Kenny Jones, Wyoming Association of Elementary and Middle School Principals executive director, presented the banner, along with last year’s National Distinguished Principal, Breez Daniels of Thermopolis Middle School.

Wood was nominated and selected by fellow principals through a statewide search process. Jones praised Wood for achieving the award, which he called not only a prestigious accomplishment, but the highest praise a principal can receive from his or her peers in the profession.

Wood will travel to Washington, D.C. in the fall to be recognized and honored with other National Distinguished Principals from around the country.
