Cody Regional Health Temporarily Closes Health Check Laboratory

Written by on October 13, 2020

Cody Regional Health is stopping services at their Walk-in Outpatient Health Check Laboratory until further notice due to COVID-19 demands.

The increasing demand for COVID-19 tests and growing infection rates in Cody and Park County have led to a high volume of laboratory testing. Cody Regional Health Laboratory Director Jeanine Brus says the demand is too much to keep both the labs at the West Park Campus and the Cathcart Health Center running simultaneously.

Until further notice,  lab testing will be undertaken at the West Park Campus at 707 Sheridan Avenue.

This should allow Cody Regional to meet staffing demands and lead to better testing efficiency.

There is no reduction of services offered by Cody Regional, just a temporary change of location. Blood draws, for instance, will exclusively occur in the hospital chapel across from the main laboratory department at the West Park Campus.

The walk-in clinic at Cathcart Health Center is still open for patients, in addition to all the other usual services at that location. Patients experiencing respiratory symptoms hoping to be examined at Cody Regional Health’s Respiratory Clinic will need to make an appointment before arriving.

All patients will require a doctor’s note to receive testing. Patients experiencing COVID-19 symptoms — including shortness of breath, chest pain, palpitations, or other more serious symptoms — should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

The hours for laboratory testing are unchanged: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
