Cody: WY Game and Fish New Office Constructing Going Well

Written by on September 9, 2021

The skeleton of a building is going up north of Cody as Wyoming Game and Fish continues constructing its new, bigger, and better Cody Regional Office.

Construction is ongoing at the site for the new Wyoming Game and Fish Department Cody Regional office building. And now, that progress has become more visible as crews begin construction of exterior walls.

Steel columns for the exterior walls of the main office are being set, and construction on a cold storage building is underway.

“Construction crews hope to have the main building dried in by fall so interior work can occur during the winter months,” said Dan Smith, regional wildlife supervisor. The building is estimated to be complete in June 2022.

This may be the most dramatic sign of construction so far, but it’s certainly not the beginning of the $5 – $10 million project.

“Significant headway has occurred at the construction site since we broke ground in the spring,” Smith said. “A lot of dirt work has been done, utilities have been installed, foundation work has been completed, and concrete floors have been poured.”

The new office building is located less than one mile north of Cody on Highway 120. The property is situated on the southwest side of the highway, across from Highway 120 and Road 2 ABN.

Cody’s Plan One Architects designed the new office, designed specially to the needs of the regional office. That structure will contain the offices for the full and part-time staff currently employed at the Cody Office.

Other amenities include:

  • A large ADA compliant community meeting room that can be used for public meetings, hunter education courses, workshops, and other non-profit events
  • An Aquatic Invasive Species check station to replace the current North Cody check station near Newton Lake Road
  • Easier and safer location and parking for the public
  • More space at the front counter to accommodate customers

Increasing accessibility and education in the Cody Region have been priorities of the new construction since its inception.

The new Cody Regional Office will have a large meeting room dedicated to events and classes for regional hunters, increasing Game and Fish’s outreach in northwest Wyoming.

Game and Fish is committed to providing ongoing updates about this construction project. Visit the Cody Region webpage for more information or enroll in the email list to receive regular updates.
