Controlled Burns Near Northeast Entrance

Written by on May 22, 2018

If you witnessed smoke yesterday near the northeast entrance to Yellowstone, there’s no cause for alarm.
Park officials yesterday burned piles of woody debris in the morning. They say that smoke should be expected through this morning.
According to Park staff, burning the piles is the last step of a project called Firewise, in which staff removed vegetation around buildings in order to reduce the threat of wildfire.
