The Cody Cubs hit the road this weekend four for games in two days in Jackson Wyoming. The weekend series gave the Cubs a chance to see competition they wouldn’t normally see throughout the season.
The Cubs would go 2-2 in Jackson this weekend. The Cubs got all the action underway Saturday against Gallatin Valley, Montana. After a 2 and a half hour rain delay the Cubs and Outlaws. After a Tristan Blatt solo home run in the 4th to give the Cubs a 4-2 lead, the fifth inning Gallatan Valley would use a 10-run advantage to secure the win, defeating the Cubs 12-6.
The Cubs would bounce back in the night cap. After Jackson jumped ahead, early, 6-2 the Cubs would battle back and eventually tie it up at 7- a piece to send the game into extras where Cody would add a run in the 8th, Tristan Blatt closed the door and Cody got a big Saturday night win.
On Sunday, Cody would be back in action taking on Rock Springs in the first game of the day and the bats came alive to the tune of 18 runs. Tritan Blatt and Jackson Schroeder would combine to go 9-10 at the plate and knocked in 11 RBI’s in their 18-9 victory.
And in Sunday’s afternoon matinee, it was an old fashioned grind it out game where Evanston would knock in the game winning run and downed the Cubs in 6 innings.
Following the weekend, the Cubs are now 6-3 on the season and return to action this coming weekend with a road trip to Laurel on Saturday before returning home to host the Billings Halos on Sunday.
