Cubs Take Day 1 Vs. World Baseball Showcases

On Monday, the Cody Cubs welcomed the World Baseball Showcase back to the Cowboy State for a double header to begin the week.
The Cubs would benefit from several big innings in their twin bill defeating the International squad in Game 1, 16-6 and won game 2, 12-5.
The Cubs would put up 11 runs on 11 hits and brought 15 batters to the plate in the first inning of game 1, Trey Thomasson tossed 5 innings of six hit ball while giving up 6 runs, 1 earned and the Cubs won via 10-run rule.
Jackson Schroeder would connect on his seventh home run of the season, a laser over the left field fence.
In game 2, it was much more of a lower scoring game until Cody broke things open in the fifth inning. With 2 outs in the inning the Cubs kept piling up the runs, via the walk and some small ball. Schroeder would connect on a 2-RBI single and the Cubs held on to defeat the International squad once again.
Ethan Johnston would pitch all six innings for the Cubs while giving up 5 runs, 3 earned.
Schroeder was an RBI machine knocking in 9 total runs on the night.
Following Monday nights Double Header the Cubs are now 22-12 on the season.
