CYAIR To Consider Air Service Bids | Big Horn Basin Media

Essential Air Service Bids Coming In for YRA

Written by on October 9, 2017

Essential Air Service decisions for Yellowstone Regional Airport should be made by the end of October.
That’s according to Bucky Hall, who sits on the board for Cody-Yellowstone Air Improvement Resources. The Yellowstone Regional Airport board met last week and were updated on the Essential Air Service process – Hall says the FAA is currently accepting bids, and the local board should see those within the next couple of weeks.
Hall says that Delta and United are really the only airlines that would consider this connection, but says the FAA has been pleased by the numbers reported by Delta’s Skywest service.

Hall says the FAA is in charge of the bids, but listens closely to what the local community asks for in terms of flight schedules and reliability. CYAIR is made up of representatives from the Cody and Powell communities who weigh in on factors that will affect air service, then those thoughts are forwarded to the FAA.
Hall adds that bids should be awarded in November.
