Evanston Passes Policy CKA

Written by on March 19, 2018

The school board in Evanston has become the first in Wyoming to pass a policy allowing school staff members to be armed.
Last Tuesday, the Uinta County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees voted 5-2 in favor of policy CKA, the school security policy that provides for concealed carry of firearms by staff members.
According to an article in the Casper Star-Tribune, the policy will be in place beginning July 1st for the 2018-19 school year. Evanston is the first school district to approve such a policy since the Wyoming Legislature passed legislation allowing for such policies during the 2017 session.
The trustees for Park County School District 6 in Cody will be hearing the second reading of a similar policy tomorrow evening at their regular meeting; and the school board in Powell held a public forum last Monday regarding the same topic.
