Fatal Crash Claims the Life of Greybull Man

Written by on March 16, 2017

A fatal crash north of Lander has resulted in three deaths, including the death of a Greybull resident.

The crash occurred on Tuesday just after 8 p.m. on Highway 789 about two miles north of Lander. An 18 year old Lander man, a 15 year old girl from Hudson, and a 20 year old Greybull man all sustained fatal injuries.

The three were traveling together northbound in an SUV, but the driver failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The driver overcorrected, sending the SUV into a spin, in which the vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a southbound pickup.

Excessive speed and driver inattention are being investigated as the contributing factors in this crash that marked the 16th, 17th, and 18th highway fatalities in Wyoming for 2017. There were 10 fatalities during this same time period in 2016.

The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
