Cody Fillies No. 1 in Wyopreps Preseason Basketball Poll

Wyopreps has released it’s coaches and media preseason basketball poll for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

Voting is selected by coaches and media members across the state.

Let’s start off with a look at the WyoPreps Coaches and Media Girls Basketball Preseason poll.

Woot, woot, the Cody Fillies begin the 2022-23 season as the No. 1 ranked team in Class 4A. The Fillies enter the season coming off a record breaking campaign from a year ago. Cheyenne East, last years State Champions, begins No. 2. Thunder Basin is three with Campbell County four. Natrona County is five.

In Class 3A, it’s Douglas on top. Lyman is second followed by Newcastle, Buffalo and Mountain View.

In Class 2A, we’ve got another area team on top as Rocky Mountain is ranked No. 1.Wyoming Indian is second. They’re followed by Tongue River, Burns and Sundance.

And in 1A, Southeast is on top. Cokeville is second. Burlington begins the season in a tie for third with Upton. Riverside opens as No. 5.

Now a look at the WyoPreps Coaches and Media Boys Basketball Preseason Poll.

Cheyenne East opens as No. 1 with Thunder Basin second. Cheyenne Central is third followed by Kelly Walsh and Sheridan.

In Class 3A, it’s Douglas on top with Worland is No. 2. Buffalo is third. Powell comes in at No. 4 and Lyman is five.

In Class 2A, it’s Pine Bluffs on top with Big Horn and Tongue River are tied for second. Rocky Mountain opens at four. Wind River is five.

Basketball season has officially arrived. While the Cody basketball teams don’t officially begin the season until next week in Gillette, they will be hosting a scrimmage on Saturday that’s free and open to the public.

The Blue and Gold Scrimmage offers a glimpse at what Cody basketball has to offer with an early season preview that will pit the players against one another in a game setting prior to opening weekend.

The Scrimmage gets underway tomorrow at 8am and will take place inside the Sweitzer Gymnasium. Again, free and open to the public.
