The Cody basketball teams were back in action over the weekend as they took to the road, to face Riverton, to open conference play.
We’ll start with a look at the Fillies who were raring to go after Friday’s games vs. Natrona was postponed.

The Cody girls continue to show why they are the best team in Wyoming as they opened the game with 30 first quarter points.
The Fillies were eager to get on the hardwood after a week off and led 57-11 at the half.
A running clock was instituted in the 2nd half and the Fillies cruised to the easy victory.
Some notable stats to pass along: The Fillies shot 64 percent from the field, poured in 44 points in the paint and tallied 25 transition points. They forced 25 turnovers and had 33 points off turnovers..
Molly Hays led the way with 27 points, 2 shy of her career high. Ally Boysen added 15. Jessa Lynn and Victory Buck had 7 a-piece while Reece Niemann poured in 9 (was 3-3 from 3-point range. Kennedi Niemann had 8 in her return to action.

As for the nightcap, the Cody Broncs showed plenty of fight but it was not enough in the end as they fell to Riverton 66-52 in their conference opener.
The Broncs held an early 18-14 lead after the first quarter but Riverton took over halfway through the second and took a 34-28 lead into the halftime break.
It was all Riverton from there, extending the lead to 42-33 at the end of 3.
The Broncs put on the full court pressure in the 4th and did find some success but it was too little too late as Riverton showed why they can be one of the best teams in the state.
Darrick DeVries had a game high 25 for the Wolverines and scored their first 14 points of the game.
Cody was led by Robby Porter with 13. Kam Niemann, the Broncs leading scorer averaging 14 a game, was held to just 4 points.
