Fillies Steamroll Lovell, Broncs Comeback Falls Short
Written by Cole Havens on January 6, 2023
The Cody Basketball teams would trek the 50 miles to Lovell Friday night for a double header with the Bulldogs.
Jessa Lynn dropped in a career high 13 points and the Fillies cruised to the 58-21 victory over Lovell.
Molly Hays would score 21 as the Fillies earned their 7th win of the season.
Cody led 29-8 after one and held Lovell to just one 2nd quarter point as they led 47-9 at the intermission.
Coach Wagner said an emphasis in this game was to get more reserve players in and he did just that as both Callie Shelton and Ellie Talich saw considerable playing time.
This was a dominant effort for the Fillies who are now 7-0 on the season.

Moving over to the boys game where the Broncs comeback would fall just short as Lovell escaped with a 53-50 win over Cody.
The Broncs would find themselves down 29-11 at the half but showed tremendous resilience.
Trey Schroeder provided just the spark Cody needed late in the 3rd quarter as he came off the bench to score 4 points and added a little moxie to the group.
The Broncs cut the Bulldogs lead to just 8 and entered the fourth down 37-29.
It was a back-and-forth final frame as the Broncs would cut the lead down to 3 early in the fourth but wouldn’t get any closer as Lovell converted enough key free throws down the stretch.
Down three in final 3 seconds Wilkins Radakovich tried to foul Lovell but the refs would not grant it and Lovell hung on for the win.
Wilkins Radakovich would lead the way for Cody with 16 points, Kam Niemann added 12.
With the loss the Broncs fall to 3-4 on the season.
