Flu Clinic Today in Cody
Written by Andrew-Rossi on October 3, 2018
The influenza season has started, and Park County Public Health is holding a clinic today in Cody to make it easier for people to get their flu shots.
Park County Public Health Nursing Supervisor Bill Crampton says that the flu season will last through the fall and winter, and points out that the seasonal flu is a serious contagious disease that causes illness, hospitalizations, and deaths each year in the United States and Wyoming.
The flu clinic today will be held at the Cody Auditorium from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering the quadrivalent flu vaccine, which covers the four major flu types. Crampton says that flu vaccine is very safe, and can help prevent unnecessary deaths.
Each flu season varies in duration and severity, and the seriousness of illness will differ by individual. But Crampton says getting immunized protects you and your family from the flu and can help protect your community.
In addition to getting immunized, Crampton says there are other steps you can take to protect yourself from getting influenza, such as covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze; washing your hands often with soap and water, avoiding close contact with people who are sick, and getting plenty of sleep, exercise, nutritious food, and water.
Another flu shot clinic will be held October 10th at the Park County Fairgrounds from 8:30 am to 6 pm.
