Fire officials caution residents that wildfire prevention is important at all times of the year.
Bighorn National Forest firefighters returned Friday to a ¼-acre wildfire located about seven miles northwest of Burgess Junction near Lick Creek. The fire was reported Thursday afternoon. Firefighters from Dayton and the Forest Service responded late Thursday and determined there was no chance for the fire to spread due to snow cover in the area. The fire was human caused.
Forest visitors are urged to never leave a campfire unattended and to completely extinguish an open campfire before leaving camp.
