Funding Secured for Cowley Community Center

Written by on September 22, 2017

The Wyoming Business Council last week gave the go-ahead to the community of Cowley to begin their project to transform an old repair shop into a new community center.
The former Rasmussen Repair building east of the Log Gym will be undergoing its transformation beginning this week. The Business Council granted funding for the $650,000 project, with the Town of Cowley matching 30 percent. According to an article in the Lovell Chronicle, Mayor Joel Peterson said the town has nearly met the match, largely with in-kind labor.
Improvements to the building will include a commercial kitchen and education center, new restrooms, and a large meeting space, which Mayor Peterson says will be much better for community meetings than the current town hall council chambers. Additionally, the facility will be available for meetings and as a training center.
The bid for the project was awarded to Heart Mountain Construction of Cody.
