Gas Prices Rise Nationwide

While gas prices are rising all over the nation, a small gas war brought prices below two dollars last week in Greybull.
According to the website Gasbuddy.com, the average retail gasoline price in Wyoming rose 6.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.42 per gallon yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 4.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.60.
However, last Tuesday a gas war between the newly opened Maverik Country Store and the Overland Express next door drove prices down to $1.99 per gallon for a brief period – that’s according to the Greybull Standard newspaper.
By comparison, gas prices in Cody currently range between $2.49 per gallon at the Exxon on the West Strip, to $2.72 per gallon at the Maverik on Big Horn Avenue.
Taking a broader perspective, prices yesterday were 24.1 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 2.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.
