A local cowboy singer known for his appearance in a documentary, as well as his volunteer efforts in the community, has been arrested for attempting to coerce a minor into prostitution in exchange for vehicle payments.
Kenneth “Val” Geissler was taken into custody last week, according to an article in the Cody Enterprise. Geissler is known as “Uncle Val” to many in the community, and appears regularly at locations like Cassie’s Supper Club and the Senior Center as a cowboy singer. He is also known for his role in a 2015 documentary about wild mustangs titled “Unbranded.”
Geissler was arrested last Thursday on charges that he attempted to coerce a minor into prostitution in exchange for vehicle payments on a car that he loaned her. The felony charge carries up to five years in jail and a $5,000 fine. Geissler is also accused of unlawful contact with minor, a misdemeanor which carries a penalty of up to six months in jail and a $750 fine.
The Enterprise reports that Geissler’s wife Cindy posted a $25,000 cash bond Friday. He will have a preliminary hearing 1:30 p.m. Friday in Park County Circuit Court. His bond conditions prohibit him from leaving Park County, having contact with minors, entering Cassie’s or setting foot at any school or school property.
