A GoFundMe site has been set up to help the family of the murder victim in Lovell to pay for her funeral expenses.
49 year old Carol Jean Barnes was killed in the Rose West Apartments in Lovell on January 4th. Her ex-husband, Donald Joe Crouse, is being held in Big Horn County jail as the only suspect in the crime. The Lovell Chronicle notes that this is the first time a crime of this type has taken place in Lovell in over 10 years.
Alisha Cothrun set up the crowd funding site, which has raised $1365 so far towards its goal of $3,000. On the site, Cothrun wrote, quote, “The tragic way in which Carol was taken exceeds our capacity to understand, leaving us all in shock,” adding, quote, “As her loved ones are struggling to cope, I am helping the family with getting funds together, so Carol is able to have the sendoff she so deserves.” Endquote.
Barnes is remembered on the GoFundMe site as a friend to all who knew her. She was studying at Northwest College in Powell, with plans to become an accountant. The Lovell Chronicle reports that she was also a checker at the Red Apple Supermarket, as well as a sponsor at the local chapters of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
