Granger Smith announced via social media that he is pursuing a different career path.
Being a man of faith, he has decided to do ministry work for his local church in Austin, Texas.
He stated via a video on his Facebook page, “This message is difficult to post. The words for this caption are so hard to find. Not because I don’t believe in the truth of them, but because this marks the end of the longest era in my life! Touring… 24 years of it.”
Furthermore, he said that ” I have felt a strong desire to pursue ministry. This doesn’t mean I’m going to start a church, a crusade, or a revival. This means that me and my family are going to serve our local church.”
Some of his most popular songs included “Backroad Song,” “Happens Like That,” and “If The Boot Fits.” In 2016, he won BMI Country Award for “Backroad Song.” The next year he was nominated for the “Best New Country Artist” award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. Finally, in 2020, he took home the award for “Best Quarantine Song” at the CMT Music Awards for his song “Don’t Cough On Me.”
Granger Smith will play his final set of shows this year as his “Like A River” tour will kick off tomorrow.
