Hageman Votes to Protect Hunting Heritage and Education, Biden Reversing School Defunding

Congresswoman Harriet Hageman (R-WY) voted to pass the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act.

This bipartisan bill would amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) which would ensure that the prohibition of use of federal education funds for certain weapons does not apply to the use of such weapons in extracurricular programs such as archery, hunting, other shooting sports, or culinary arts.

This legislation is in response to the Biden administration recently blocking funding for these programs.

Rep. Hageman said, “Our elementary and secondary schools teach millions of children across America how to responsibly handle firearms, safely hunt, and have respect for our lands.”

“These programs have been successful for decades – yet the Biden administration, in their eagerness to eliminate every aspect of our 2nd Amendment Constitutional rights, chose to strip funding for these programs from our schools,” the congresswoman said. “Fortunately, in a bipartisan vote of 424-1, the House of Representatives sent a clear message to Joe Biden that our Constitutional rights matter, and providing proper education on hunting, archery, and shooting sports benefits all of us.”

The bipartisan legislation passed the Senate unanimously Wednesday, September 27 and passed the House in a 424 to 1 vote.

According to Fox News, the White House has confirmed on Thursday, September 28 that President Biden will be signing legislation to reverse his own administration’s decision to defund school shooting courses across the United States.

The White House spokesperson said the President Biden supports the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act.
