Hall of Fame Honors Cody Rodeo

Written by on August 26, 2019

Cody IS Rodeo.

And that distinction was confirmed earlier this month when the Cody Stampede Rodeo, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs.

The ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy educates the public about rodeo, its history, and its impact on Western American culture. The Hall of Fame provides recognition to rodeo notables of the past and present, and serves as an inspiration for the future.

Mike Darby, Co-President of the Stampede Board, says the August 3rd ceremony was one of the most memorable moments of his life.

Darby added that the honor celebrates not only the Stampede board and volunteers that make the program happen every year, but also celebrates the community itself, its culture, and its people.

He adds that there have been less than 30 rodeo organizations that have ever been inducted into the pro rodeo hall of fame over the last 40 years.

Other inductees this year included four-time world champion team roping heeler Allen Bach; two-time world champion steer wrestler Dean Gorsuch; and world champion bareback rider Larry Peabody, among others.
