Health Care Forum Thursday
Written by Andrew-Rossi on February 13, 2018
A public forum this Thursday aims to start a conversation about health care in the Big Horn Basin.
That’s according to representatives of the sponsor organization, Wyoming Rising Northwest. Harriet Bloom Wilson and Linda Waggoner appeared on KODI’s Partyline show yesterday to promote the Community Healthcare Forum, scheduled for Thursday, February 15th at 6:30 p.m. at the Park County Public Library in Cody. Bloom Wilson says that this forum is launching off the success of last year’s conversation at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, which was entitled, In Search of Civility. That forum drew so much interest that people were turned away due to lack of space.
Bloom Wilson says that just like the Civility focus, the idea for this forum came out of a focus group within the larger organization of Wyoming Rising-Northwest.
Waggoner, who has a background in health care, says that five different health care organizations will be represented on the panel, pointing out that a purpose of Thursday’s forum is to educate the public on the different models of health care available in the Big Horn Basin.
Bloom Wilson says that this is in no way a political event – she says that the information presented in this forum will appeal to all demographics, just as the Civility forum drew attendees from all sides of the issues. And Waggoner added that this is just a first step of a larger conversation, expressing her hope that there will be more opportunities like this in the future, with a wide variety of providers stepping forward to answer questions of the community regarding how their organization can meet the health needs of the citizens of the Big Horn Basin.
