Heavy Snow Causes Traffic Concerns in Jackson Area

Heavy snow in the region temporarily closed Sylvan Pass in Yellowstone National Park on Friday.
Avalanche danger on the pass periodically closes the area to snowmobilers in the winter – but Sylvan Pass wasn’t the only transportation corridor affected by snow this weekend. Areas of the Jackson Hole Valley received up to 12 inches of snow. Teton Pass between Jackson and the Idaho border was closed Friday morning, and many other highways and roads in the area were slick.
In south-central Wyoming, up to 22 inches of snow fell in the Snowy Range Friday. The snow made parts of Interstate 80 slick, but conditions improved as the day wore on.
