High Winds Cause Havoc In Wyoming Over Weekend
Written by Scott Campbell on December 21, 2020
Wyoming’s famous winds struck once again over the weekend.
Mainly happening on Sunday, gusts slammed most of the state pretty hard with gusts up to 90mph recorded in southeast Wyoming.
Some of the National Weather Service’s recordings were: 91mph near Cheyenne, 81mph near Arlington, and 67mph near Elk Mountain, among other recordings.
These extreme winds even caused some road closures including I 25 from Cheyenne to Casper. This closure happened as a result of multiple crashes and an overturned semi-truck.
If you are ever caught on the highway in these winds, it is always a good idea to slow down and drive very cautiously especially if you have a large vehicle that could be prone to tipping over.
