Higher Education = Economic Development

A listening session tomorrow evening at Northwest College will focus on the ways that community colleges can help support local economic development.
The Wyoming Educational Attainment Executive Council will conduct nine facilitated sessions throughout the state on November 29 at the community colleges and the University of Wyoming. The session in Powell will be held at the Yellowstone Building Conference Center at Northwest College at 6:30.
College President Stefani Hicswa says the Council is aggressively moving forward with developing the five-year and 10-year educational master plan to reach the state’s educational attainment goals established in Governor Mead’s ENDOW initiative as a major strategy to diversify Wyoming’s economy.

Hicswa says the public sessions’ focus is to identify the barriers residents face to access and complete higher education certificates and degrees. The open forum discussions will seek perspectives from attendees for specific strategies to create a college-going culture from K-12 to working adults.
A Facebook Live link on the Endow Wyoming page will allow individuals who are unable to attend a session in person to participate beginning at 6 p.m. tomorrow.
