Highway 14A Open for Season

The annual spring opening of Highway 14A between Burgess Junction and Lovell will occur prior to Memorial Day weekend this year – precisely at noon today.
WYDOT annually closes a 22-mile stretch of scenic mountain road in the Bighorn Mountains around November 30th, at the conclusion of the fall hunting season. And it usually opens for the summer by Memorial Day weekend.
Cody Beers with WYDOT says the amount of snow in the mountains has been an issue for crews, but recently the weather has cooperated to allow for an on-time opening of the highway.
Wyoming Department of Transportation maintenance foreman Jason Fleming of Lovell says there are a few ongoing maintenance activities to complete, including installing new delineator posts through a landslide area, which has been patched.
