House Fire Claims Life

A house fire Saturday outside of Powell has claimed a life.
According to Sam Wilde, who performed the initial investigation on behalf of the State Fire Marshal’s office, the home in a rural area outside of Powell was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived late Saturday evening.
Wilde says the body of the victim was found about 15 feet inside the door of the home. The identity of the man has not been determined, as the damage to his body was too extensive, but Wilde says an autopsy is underway – he says the assumption is that it was the home’s primary resident. The structure, which started out as a mobile home but had been added on to over the years, was full of combustible materials, and as a result, Wilde says the fire was difficult to extinguish.
Wilde says the State Fire Marshal’s investigator has taken over the case.
