Hunters Asked to Submit CWD Samples

Written by on September 26, 2018

Game and Fish mule deer managers in the Cody region are asking deer hunters that hunt in the Southwest Bighorn mule deer herd to get their deer sampled for chronic wasting disease this year.
Chronic wasting disease is a fatal disease affecting deer, elk, and moose. Corey Class, wildlife coordinator with Game and Fish in Cody, says the request is part of a greater statewide CWD surveillance effort to collect adequate sample sizes for priority herds across the state, and the herd in areas south and east of Worland is one of these priority sampling herds for the 2018 hunting season.
Hunters are encouraged to check the Game and Fish website for locations and dates where samples can be collected from harvested deer.
