It was announced by Head Coach Phil Oberlin that the Quake have traded Forward Jack Harris to the Sheridan Hawks for a pair of players, over the weekend. The Quake also added a third player form Oklahoma City as well. Harris was tied for the team lead in points this season (45) with Dylan Rumpke. Harris led the team in goals (24) and was second in assists (21). Coach Oberlin on the trade.
“Partly to give him an opportunity to maybe make a playoff run with them. On our end too, we wanted to make sure that we were still competitive and still making a run for ourselves for playoffs, even though it’s a bit of a long shot, we still feel like we’re in it and we can still make this happen. We can still sneak in. So we ended up adding two players from Sheridan and then we added an additional third player from Oklahoma City as well.”
Coach Oberlin and Harris have been together for the last three years and coach toches on the kind of athlete and person Sheridan is acquiring.
“He’s an extremely intelligent player. So his hockey IQ is throught the roof. His play-making ability, seeing his vision on the ice, is great. You know he works hard. He’s just been a great kid to have both on and off the ice. Obviously, we want the best for him and we wish him luck until that first weekend in March when we play them,” coach says with a laugh.
The Quake will have an opportunity to face-off with Jack Harris this season as they have two more contests with Sheridan remaining on March 5th and 6th.
