Kids Fishing Day Friday at Beck Lake
Written by Andrew-Rossi on June 1, 2017
This Saturday is the annual Cody Kids Fishing Day event at Beck Lake Park.
Kids are invited to ‘get hooked on fishing’ at the free event on June 3rd from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jason Burckhardt, Cody region fisheries biologist with the Game and Fish Department, says this is a great opportunity for Cody area youth and their families to spend the day outdoors learning about the sport of fishing.
The day will begin with educational activities conducted by Game and Fish, Trout Unlimited, and the Shoshone National Forest that include spin casting, knot tying and learning how to handle and release a fish. A free hotdog lunch and a fishing derby hosted by the Cody Optimist Club will follow in the afternoon. Registration for educational activities begins at 8:30 a.m. at the lower picnic area at Beck Lake Recreation Area.
Kids Fishing Day events are held across Wyoming in celebration of National Fishing and Boating Week. Saturday is also Free Fishing Day across the state of Wyoming. Anyone may fish without a fishing license or conservation stamp on free fishing day, Saturday June 3, 2017. All limits and other fishing regulations apply.
