Klingbiel Denied Bond

A Wapiti man is being jailed without bond in a first-degree murder case.
Dennis Klingbiel has been accused of killing his wife over a dispute about $3.6 million dollars in trust assets. The 76-year-old called his son in Florida and confessed to shooting his wife, Donna, last Sunday night, then proceeded to take enough pills to commit suicide. Park County Deputies arrived in time to transport both to the hospital, where Donna succumbed to her injuries.
According to an article in the Cody Enterprise, Circuit Court Judge Bruce Waters on Monday said he was concerned that Klingbiel could flee if he is allowed to post bail. However, Klingbiel’s attorney, Anna Olson of Casper, argued that holding Klingbeil in jail was unwarranted, noting he’s never even been accused of a crime before now. Olson proposed a $500,000 bond, which the Judge denied.
Charging documents indicate the couple had been arguing over their trust and that Donna Klingbeil had told a son that she wanted to get a divorce. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday.
