“Longmire” Stars Delayed

Residents and visitors hoping to get a chance to meet the grand marshals of the Stampede Parade will have to wait just a day longer.
Due to shooting schedule delays for the Netflix series “Longmire,” stars Robert Taylor and Adam Bartley won’t be arriving in Cody until late the night of the 3rd, according to Stampede Parade Committee Member Joy Gonion. However, she says that they are on track to lead the parade on the 4th of July, and are still scheduled to appear at a book signing with Longmire series author Craig Johnson at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
The parade on the 4th is just part of the festivities planned for this weekend. The Stampede Celebration will kick off with tonight’s Extreme Bulls event at the rodeo grounds at 8 p.m., and that rodeo action will continue tomorrow with slack beginning at 9 a.m. and the first of four nights of the PRCA-sanctioned Stampede Rodeo at 8 p.m.
Sunday is the first day of parades, with the Kiddie Parade beginning at 10 a.m., along with the first day of the Wild West Extravaganza at City Park. Monday and Tuesday the big Stampede Parades will begin at 9:30, followed by music in the park and at the Center of the West; more slack at the rodeo grounds, and festive meals served at the Elks and Eagles lodges throughout the two days.
Other events planned for the four-day event include the Freedom Celebration at Veteran’s Memorial Park at 1 p.m. on Monday, at which members of Wyoming’s delegation to are scheduled to speak. And the 98th Annual Stampede will culminate at 10 p.m. with fireworks near the river. Tune in to KODI and KZMQ AM while the fireworks are going off to listen to patriotic music during the show.
