May Brings Activity to Cody
Written by Andrew-Rossi on May 1, 2017
It’s the first day of May, and Cody is ready to welcome spring in many ways.
A May Day Celebration is planned for this evening in downtown Cody. Rikki and Chuck Streumke are opening their new German restaurant today, and are planning a May Pole event at 5 p.m. this evening. Rikki Streumke says that May Day is a traditional German holiday, so they received permission from the City of Cody to hold a brief celebration in honor of the tradition.
Another sign of the coming change in seasons, the Buffalo Bill Center of the West shifts to its summer schedule today, now open to the public daily from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. This weekend’s Annual Fire School is also a traditional signal of the beginning of the tourist season for many residents and businesses, as the community will host between 350 and 450 firefighters and their families for the weekend’s training event.
And this Friday, the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its fourth annual Park and Pancakes from 8am to 10am to celebrate the opening of the East Gate to Yellowstone National Park.
