Microsoft Phone Scam Circulating

The Park County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents to beware of a new Microsoft Security Scam.
The Sheriff’s Department has become aware of an automated phone scam which informs you that the Microsoft systems security on your PC has been breached by a foreign country. The caller ID on many of these calls actually shows your name and phone number, which adds to the authenticity of the call.
Microsoft assure users that this is a well-known scam to them. All the scammers are trying to do is get control of your PC. They will then cause your PC to become corrupt and require you to pay to have it fixed – and even though you might pay them, they will not fix it.
Microsoft officials say their company never makes unsolicited phone calls. They caution their users to never give remote access to your PC; do not give any personal information; and never agree to pay them.
