Missing Hunters Located in Big Horns

Overdue hunters this weekend prompted the dispatch of the Big Horn County Search and Rescue team.
The call came in to the Big Horn County Dispatch Center just after 9:30 on Saturday night, that there was an overdue hunting party on the Big Horns. That’s according to the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. The post noted that the last contact from the missing hunters that morning had been that there was too much snow and they were headed out.
One member of the party that had become separated from the others was able to contact the Sheriff’s Department to call for assistance in locating the missing group. Search and Rescue volunteers with snow machines were immediately deployed, and the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office asked for any experienced snow machine riders in the County to assist with the search.
Near record amounts of snow hampered any wheeled vehicles in the area of the hunting party, and Sheriff Blackburn was planning to request military helicopters yesterday morning from the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security should they be necessary to continue the search.
But the missing hunters were successfully located Sunday morning, according to a post by the Sheriff’s Department, and everyone was safe and in good medical condition.
