The City of Cody has hired a new Public Works Director.
The City has been in the process of acquiring the new department head since the retirement of Steve Payne in early August. Payne had served the City for almost 23 years.
The City received 37 applications for the position, which City Administrator Barry Cook says they narrowed down to five finalists. On August 23rd and 24th, the five participated in an assessment center process, as well as a community event for consideration of the Public Works Director. After deliberation, Cook says he made the decision to hire Phillip Bowman from McCall, Idaho.
Cook says that he took several factors into consideration when making his selection.
Bowman has 22 years of experience including private, county and municipal work in the engineering field. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, and holds certifications in Floodplain management and Traffic Control Technical, as well as holding Professional Engineering Licenses in Idaho, Utah and Colorado.
Bowman will supervise over 40 City employees within several divisions. His anticipated start date is October 15.
