Northwest College Offers Paramedic Course in Cody
Written by Andrew-Rossi on May 28, 2020
Northwest College is offering another new course in Cody.
The college will be offering its Associate of Applied Science in Paramedicine at its Cody Campus during the 2020 Fall Semester. This four-semester program is a hybrid program, consisting of online coursework, face-to-face labs and clinical experiences. But unlike a typical paramedic program, Northwest’s has a particular focus on training their students in wilderness training. Usually, such training is reserved for one a person gets their license, but given the unusual and challenging terrain in our region, Northwest feel its best as an active, living portion of the program.
Whitney Morgan, NWC interim educational support coordinator for paramedic & EMT programs says, quote “Students will be exposed to intense wilderness situations throughout their time with us to hone the skill sets they learn in an environment that is extremely variable. This puts our students in a unique position to serve more austere environments, such as Park County, and to be better equipped than many of their peers to perform wilderness rescues.” Unquote.
Applications for the first fall offering in Cody are due by June 30th. 12 students will be admitted. To apply, visit https://nwc.edu/sites/nursing/ems-programs/paramedic.html.
