Northwest Wyoming Under Flash Flood Watch Through Friday, August 4

The National Weather Service in Riverton, Wyoming has issued a flash flood watch in effect Thursday, August 2 through Friday evening, August 4 for northwest Wyoming.
Over the next few days, the Big Horn Basin is expect to have substantial rainfall. There is a high chance that flash flooding may occur due to the excessive rain showers.
The watch is in effect for the Absaroka Mountains, Cody Foothills, Jackson Hole, North Big Horn Basin, Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains, and Yellowstone National Park.
Portions of central Wyoming are also under a summer flood watch including Buffalo, Kaycee, Casper, Natrona County’s lower elevations, and Southeast Big Horn Basin.
The excessive water runoff may result in rivers, creeks, and streams to overflow causing flooding.
The National Weather Service also advises that rainfall rates of 1 to 4 inches per hours are possible.
