NWC Basketball Teams Victorious in Home Opener

Both the Northwest College men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted Rocky Mountain College JV inside the Cabre Gymanasium Wednesday night for their home opener. In front of their home crowd for the first time this season both Northwest teams would pull away victorious swith the women winning 79-50 and the men won 96-72.
In the first game of the night the Lady Trappers jumped out to an early 28-9 first quarter lead and never looked back. They would lead 43-25 at halftime and earned a solid first home win of the season.
Leading the way for the Lady Trappers in their home debut was Riley Aiono with 18 points. Samiyah Worell dropped in 17 while Raquel Turner had 16 and Adela Smutna pitched in with 10.
With the win the Lady Trappers improve to 5-4 on the season.
As for the second of the double header, the NWC men’s team would also jump out to an early lead and not look back. They led 41-28 at the intermission before putting up 96 in the win.
The Trappers had six players score in double digits with Oluwaseyi Oyeku leading the way with 19 points.
With the win the men’s basketball team improves to 6-4 on the season.
Up Next: Both NWC basketball teams are back in action tonight hosting Rocky Mountain College JV, once again, inside the Cabre Gym. Women tip-off at 5pm with the men scheduled for 7:30pm.
