NWC Offers Training to Former Cody Labs Employees

Written by on August 9, 2018

Workers affected by layoffs at Cody Labs are being offered the opportunity to train for other careers – for free.
According to Northwest College President Stefani Hicswa, the school is offering retraining funds provided by the NWC Foundation. Beginning as early as the upcoming fall semester, the foundation is committing up to $70,000 over a two-year period for tuition and fees for anyone who was laid off by Cody Labs as a result of their recent decision to downsize their Wyoming operation.
Hicswa explains that part of the college’s mission is to proactively respond to workforce needs and offer retraining opportunities for employees.

Hicswa credits Foundation Director Shelby Wetzel for helping to make the funds available.

Hicswa says the college is collaborating with Cody Labs managers, who will help solidify award parameters and notify NWC as to eligible employees. The retraining funds will be available for the next two years, and are intended to support both credit classes, including online courses, and noncredit offerings through the Center for Training and Development.
