NWC to Offer New Four-Year Ag Degree

Written by on October 23, 2018

A new four-year agriculture degree will be offered at Northwest College.
Northwest College President Stefani Hicswa announced earlier this month that NWC will be teaming up with the University of Wyoming to offer a bachelor of applied science degree, with a concentration in plant science.
According to an article in the Powell Tribune, Hicswa said the new degree program is a big win for Powell and the Big Horn Basin, because students do not have to leave to complete their degree. Instead, students who are working on local farms while attending school at NWC will be able to apply their knowledge.
The article points out that courses will be offered through distance education, featuring a mix of online courses and courses taught by faculty at the Powell Research & Extension Center.
Brett Hess, the interim dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Wyoming, said the program might be ready to go as soon as this coming January.
