THE NORTHWEST COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL TEAM HAS BEEN ON THE COURTS ALL WEEK IN PREPARATION FOR THE REGION IX CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT WHICH BEGINS WEDNESDAY IN COLORADO. HEADING INTO THE TOURNAMENT THE TRAPPERS ARE 2-10. HEAD COACH VALERIE RIVERA BELIEVES THIS TEAM IS BATTLE TESTED FOR THE PLAYOFFS.

OUR BIGGEST STRENGTH AS A TEAM IS THE GRIT WE SHOW. WE ARE NOT INTIMIDATED BY THE OTHER SIDE WHATSOEVER. WE KNOW THERE ARE GOING TO BE CHALLENGES, BUT WE ALSO KNOW THAT THERE IS GOING TO BE WEAKNESSES WE CAN EXPOSE. OUR ONLY PROBLEM HEADING INTO THE TOURNAMENT IS WHETHER WE WILL WANT IT MORE THAN THE OTHER TEAM TO TAKE THE WIN.”

COACH RIVERA ADDS WHY THAT’S IMPORTANT.

“EVERY TEAM HAS TO COME READY TO PLAY. RECORDS DON’T MEAN ANYTHING FROM THIS POINT ON BECAUSE THE TEAM WHO SHOWS UP READY AND HAS THE MOST DESIRE WILL TAKE THE WIN REGARDLESS OF THE TALENT ON THE COURT. ITS DO OR DIE FROM THIS POINT ON.”

THE NORTHWEST COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL TEAM IS MATCHED UP WITH OTERO COLLEGE IN A PLAY-IN GAME WHICH BEGINS WEDNESDAY AT 8AM. STAY TUNED TO THE BIG HORN RADIO NETWORK FOR RESULTS.
